About Raiders Daily

An independent NFL site: every Raiders story in one place, a morning article on what it all means, weekly power rankings of all 32 teams, and a public record of picks against the spread.

Who writes it

Raiders Daily is written and edited by Taurean Matador, who also writes The Taurean Matador on Substack under the line "All Bull. No Shit."

He spent his working life reading numbers for a living, including as chief executive and chief financial officer of public companies, and he reads football the same way: on what actually happened rather than on what anyone expected to happen. He is a lifelong Raiders fan, which is exactly why the Raiders get no favours here.

How it works

Power rankings are published every Tuesday and rank all 32 teams on cumulative on-field results only. A win counts for more against a better opponent and on the road. Preseason expectations, offseason noise and betting markets are left out.

Picks cover every game against the spread. Each one is published with the line it was made against before kickoff, graded automatically against the final score, and followed by a recap that owns the result, right or wrong. Break-even at standard -110 pricing is 52.4%. These are opinions, not betting advice.

News on the Raiders and Falcons pages is gathered from beat writers, national outlets and the team sites. Headlines link to the original reporting, which belongs to its publishers. The morning article summarises and credits that reporting; it doesn't republish it.

Parts of the research, drafting and grading are automated. Rankings and picks are reviewed before they're published; recaps and the morning article are published as written and corrected here if they get something wrong.
