Allen's five touchdowns open Highmark Stadium as Bills -3.5 cashes
Cashed
Never in doubt. Buffalo covered the 3.5 by six and a half. Josh Allen christened the new Highmark Stadium with five touchdowns: 20 of 31 for 248 and three through the air, 14 carries for 69 and two more on the ground. The Bills had it put away by halftime, and Detroit's late touchdown dressed up the scoreboard without ever threatening the number. One honest footnote: the case was Detroit's banged-up line against Buffalo's pass rush, and this was won by Buffalo's offense instead. Right side, partly the wrong reason. We'll take it.
win Bills 41, Lions 31
The pick: Bills -3.5 vs Lions
The case before kickoff
Buffalo has moved through the key number of three while the total climbed two points, with 64% of bets and 91% of money on the Bills. Detroit is going on a short week with line problems: guard Christian Mahogany (hip) and an offensive tackle (knee) both missed Monday's practice. That's a bad combination against Buffalo's pass rush in the new stadium's opener.
