Tetairoa McMillan's 192 yards sink Lions -3.5 on Sunday night

Mea culpa

The case was Detroit's front against a patched Carolina line, and Carolina ran for 122 yards with Chuba Hubbard while holding Detroit to 46 on the ground. Tetairoa McMillan caught 14 of 16 targets for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and Bryce Young went 29 of 41 for 329 without a turnover. Neither team turned it over once. Panthers 32, Lions 26, so minus 3.5 misses by nine and a half. Damien Lewis was out as expected and it bought Detroit nothing at all.

The pick: Lions -3.5 at Panthers

The case before kickoff

Carolina's Wednesday list hits both lines of scrimmage on offense: guard Damien Lewis (elbow) and tackle Monroe Freeling (concussion) didn't practice, receivers Jalen Coker (quad) and Xavier Legette (knee) sat, and running back Jonathon Brooks is on IR after core-muscle surgery. Bryce Young practiced fully after the knee scare. Detroit's only notable absence is Isiah Pacheco, who has been out all season. The hook is the worry, and the over has taken almost all the total money, but if Lewis and Freeling both miss, Detroit's front is the biggest mismatch on Sunday night.
