Week 4 picks · Mea culpa
Kyle Monangai's 146 yards flatten Jets +3.5 at Soldier Field
Mea culpa
The bet was Chicago's quarterback room, and Chicago didn't need one. Tyson Bagent made his first start since 2023 and handed the ball to Kyle Monangai 30 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns. The Bears outgained New York 492 to 157, held the ball for 42:45, and the Jets went 0 for 7 on third down. Bears 23, Jets 12, which buries the 3.5 by seven and a half. Betting a backup quarterback as a weakness ignores that you still have to generate offense.
loss Bears 23, Jets 12
The pick: Jets +3.5 at Bears
The case before kickoff
Caleb Williams still isn't practicing with the hamstring, so this is probably Case Keenum again, a backup laying more than a field goal. The Jets' quarterback has been the steadier of the two this season, but the supporting cast is thin: Breece Hall is week-to-week with the quad, Adonai Mitchell and Mason Taylor didn't practice Wednesday, and rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq was limited with a back issue. This is a bet on the hook and on Chicago's quarterback room, not on New York's offense. Low conviction.
