Week 6 picks · Cashed
Kenneth Walker's 128 yards and two scores cash the Chiefs -8.5
Cashed
Sixteen points, seven and a half clear, and the receiver room was the whole read. Ladd McConkey left with a concussion after one catch, Tre' Harris never dressed, Los Angeles started four rookies on the line with Joe Alt out, and the Chargers did not score a touchdown. Four sacks of Justin Herbert from a front that hadn't recorded one since Week 1. The wrinkle: Patrick Mahomes threw for 272 with no scores and a pick in the end zone, and Kenneth Walker's 19 carries for 128 and two touchdowns did the work. Chiefs 22, Chargers 6.

The pick: Chiefs -8.5 vs Chargers · conviction play #4
The case before kickoff
The most lopsided pairing on the slate is the Chargers' pass protection against Kansas City's rush. Los Angeles is rated 29th on the line and worst in the league in pass blocking, Joe Alt is on the report with a neck, and Justin Herbert has nobody to throw to: Ladd McConkey's foot, Quentin Johnston's chest, Tre' Harris's hamstring and Brenen Thompson's quad have that room down to nothing with David Njoku on IR. That's how a team ends up 32nd in offensive EPA per play at -0.22 and 0-5. The reason this number isn't bigger is that the Chargers' defense is genuinely good, seventh in EPA per play at -0.10 and -0.16 against the run, and even with Derwin James on the hamstring report it keeps games in the forties. Kansas City has thin spots of its own with Rashee Rice's hamstring and Tyquan Thornton gone for months, but Patrick Mahomes at +0.16 per pass against an offense that can't stay on the field is the shape of this game. We make it Chiefs -10.5; the market says -8.5. We had the Chargers plus the points at home last week and they lost outright, and the reason we're on the other side now is the receiver room and Alt's neck, not the result.
